Introduction

  • A special reading space for graduate students and instructors for academic/research purposes.

Location

  • Main Library (New Building) 2F – Total of 24 Seats

Users

  • Enrolled graduate students who are currently in thesis submission semester.
  • Instructors who are currently working at Korea Univ.

Application & Selection Criteria

  • Applications are accepted and selected according to the Library Recruitment Notice, which is posted every semester. The results will be announced on the library website.
  • Open (Public) Draw (observants who are present at the day of the draw will be given the priority, the draw cannot be drawn by proxy)
  • Carrel use is limited to only once during the entire course period (Instructors can renew their usage period once. However, when selecting new carrel users, existing users will be moved down to the bottom priority.)
* In case when a user gets caught for participating in the draw in another person’s name, they will be suspended from using all library services (entry, loan, carrel, etc.) for 1 year.

Application & Period of Use

  • 1st Semester : 2nd Week of January (Usage Period : March 1st ~ July 31st)
  • 2nd Semester : 2nd Week of July (Usage Period : September 1st ~ January 31st (Next Year))
* August & February : Management & Maintenance Period

Application Submission

  • Location : Main Library (New Building, 1F) Information Center (02-3290-1492)
  • Documents Required
– 1 Application Form (with a photo (Carte de visite) of the applicant) : The application form is located at the Information Center (Main Library, New Building, 1F). Or, you can download the form in the ‘Notice’ board of the library homepage. – Certificate of Employment (Instructors only) – For identification purposes, graduate students must bring their student ID card, and instructors must bring their ID card or resident registration card.

Rules

  • If a user lends their seat or allow other users to use their seat (including proxy application), the said user will be kicked out and will be restricted from using library services (entry, loan, etc.) for 1 year.
  • If a user is no longer qualified to use this service due to various reasons, such as postponement of thesis submission, failing to register for the current semester, etc., they must immediately return their carrel (seat). In this case, the said user cannot re-apply for the carrel during their degree course.
  • The carrel key must be managed by the user during the period of use, and the user is also responsible for managing their belongings in the carrel.
  • ※ In the case where a user loses their carrel key, the said user must pay the replacement cost of the key box
  • Use of personal heaters are prohibited inside the carrel. No smoking/cooking inside the carrel.
  • Carrel use is limited to once during the entire degree course.
  • All users must cooperate with the manager’s request for identification and should not allow or instruct other users to enter their own carrel.
  • Including the usage rules mentioned above, the manager can kick a user out of the carrel when they destroy the academic atmosphere of the library or interfere with other users’ research.

  • Make reservations at the Mobile APP or the Facility Reservation page Go to ‘Facility Reservation’
  • Reservations are only allowed for filming/recording purposes. Users who use the studio for other purposes will be penalized upon detection

How to use

  • Inquiry & Reservation through Facility Reservation Page / Mobile App (can be booked from 2 weeks ~ 2 days prior to the date of use)
  • Min. applicants required for reservation : 6 (if there are less than 6 school students, employees, you can make a reservation by calling the facility manager)
  • Check your reservation status in Reservation Status page.

    •  – Seats are available before two weeks from the use or the day of use.
    •  – Maximum 6 hours available and only 2 times reservation acceptable.
    • ② Authentication
    •  – Beacon Authentication needed by mobile app.
    • ③ Penalty
    •  – If you fail to authenticate 2 times in a row, reservation suspended for about 1 month.

    •  – If you fail to authenticate 2 times in a row, reservation suspended for about 1 month.

Application & Assign space

  • Download application from library website announcement or fill out Google application and submit it.
  • After confirmation of application, Room will be assigned by order of arrival, and if vacancy occurs, it’ll be assigned to the waiting team.

Period of Use

  • 1st Semester: 3/1 ~ 7/31 (5 Months)
  • 2nd Semester: 9/1 ~ 1/31 (5 Months)
  • August & February : Management & Maintenance Period

Rules

  • Project space cannot be rented or transferred. (Prohibited using the reserved room out of team members and proxy application)
  • Below are strictly prohibited: Use of personal heating appliances, smoking, cooking
  • In case of damage to the facility, it must be compensated or restored to its original state.
  • Always cooperate with the manager’s request for identification.
  • If you finish using the room earlier than expected date, you must notify the manager.
  • If you interfere with the other users or infringe on the study atmosphere of the library, you may be dismissed or subject to penalty on library use, according to “Article 18 of the Library Use Policy”.
