CDL Introduction

The CDL is located inside the Centennial Samsung Hall, which has opened in May 2005 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Korea Univ., and is equipped with various facilities and equipment to allow the users enjoy all kinds of multimedia materials. After being established with the concept of an Information Commons (first in Korea), it has constantly went through innovative changes to become a user-centered learning & cultural space.

The archive is open on Saturdays (even during vacation), and the reading room is open all year round, barring any unforeseen circumstances. All users must bring their student ID when they wish to use the library.

Video Conferencing Room

A space for professors to make academic exchanges with professors from other universities + A space for exchange students and overseas human resources to communicate with their home countries
How to Use
  • Reservations and Inquiries can be made through the Facility Reservation Page/Mobile APP (Reservations must be made between 2 weeks ~ 1 day before the day of use)

A Small Theater-concept space where you can experience high-quality images and sounds through a high-resolution Digital Cinema System

  • Reservations and Inquiries can be made through the Facility Reservation Page/Mobile APP (Reservations must be made between 2 weeks ~ 1 day before the day of use))
  • Minimum Users Required (for reservation): 6
  • Check the approval status at the ‘Reservation/Assignment Status’ screen

L-Lounge

A multi-purpose space with the concept of LEGACY, LEARNING, and LIVING. Can be used as an event hall for academic lectures and events (lecture table & beam projector installed). It can also be used as a learning & rest area when there is no event.
How to Use
Open to all users unless there is a special event held inside the hall (no food allowed).

International Organization Archive

Located on the first basement floor of the Academic Information Center, the International Organization Archive owns more than 290,000 materials, including UN/EU/OECD Documents, Theses/Dissertations of Korea Univ., Cultural Magazines, Newspapers, and books owned by the Preservation Library. Among them, materials published by the UN HQ, UN-affiliated organizations (IMF, ILO, FAO, UNESCO, WHO, etc.), and the EU Publications Office are donated to our library. The UN archives were established in 1957 (first UN archive in Korea), and the EU archives were established in 1991. Also, we have been purchasing/collecting OECD materials from 1970. In addition, users can also gain access to latest cultural magazines and major daily newspapers at the International Organization Archive.
Collection
  • UN Materials: As a UN Library, we have approx. 43,800 books related to UN, including MOMs, Treaty Series, Yearbooks, Statistics, and Reports
  • EU Materials: We own 9,100 books (Official Journal, COM, Case Documents, etc.) and 10,000 Microfiche data.
  • OECD Materials: We own more than 9,400 books related to the field of social studies and economy (data, statistics, etc.)
  • Thesis/Dissertation: We own 106,600 volumes of thesis/dissertations of Korea Univ., and the users can view the original full text of the theses/dissertations through the digital collection of the library. Users can gain access to the full text of theses/dissertations of other universities through a dedicated (terminal) PC (National Assembly Library Original Text Browsing PC)
  • Preservation Library: Owns a collection of 125,000 books that were published between 1945-2000.

How to Use
  • UN/EU/OECD Materials are open to everyone. However, it cannot be brought outside of the library, and only ‘copying’ of the materials is allowed.
  • Theses/Dissertations and books owned by the Preservation Library can be loaned by Korea Univ. students. However, in the case of cultural magazines and newspapers, only ‘reading’ and ‘copying’ is allowed.
