저자소개
수잔 셔크(지은이)
40여 년간 중국정치를 연구해 온 미국의 대표적 중국통. 캘리포니아대 샌디애고 분교(U.C. San Diego)에서 ‘21세기 중국 프로그램’과 ‘국제관계 및 태평양 연구 대학원’의 석좌 교수로 중국정치와 국제관계를 가르치고 있으며, ‘글로벌 분쟁 및 협력 연구소(IGCC)’ 소장을 맡고 있다. 버클리대에서 아시아학을 공부하고, MIT대에서 정치학 박사학위를 받았으며(1974년), 클린턴 행정부에서 국무부 동아태 부차관보를 역임(1997-2000년)하며 중미관계를 담당하기도 하였다. 대표적인 저서로는 중국정치 연구의 필독서로 꼽히는 『중국 경제개혁의 정치적 논리(The Political Logic of Economic Reform in China)』 등이 있다.
