마리나 유머시 버스(지은이)

보스턴대학교에서 교육미디어 전공으로 석사 학위를 취득하였습니다. 매사추세츠공과대학교(MIT) 미디어랩(Media Lab)에서 석사 및 박사 학위를 취득하면서 시모어 페퍼트 교수, 미첼 레즈닉 교수와 함께 연구를 했습니다. 현재는 터프츠대학교의 엘리엇-피어슨 아동 및 인간 발달학과 교수이자 컴퓨터과학과를 겸임하는 교수로 재직 중입니다. 그리고 터프츠대학교의 학제 간 연구 그룹인 발달테크놀로지연구그룹을 이끌고 있습니다. 코딩 및 로보틱스와 관련된 학습 기술들이 어린이들의 발달과 학습에 어떠한 도움을 주는지를 중점적으로 연구합니다. 또한 혁신적인 학습 기술을 설계하고 적용하여 어린이들의 바람직한 성장을 이끌어주는 연구들을 진행합니다. 그녀는 연구비를 지원받아 어린아이들을 위한 무료 프로그래밍 언어인 ‘스크래치 주니어’와 나무 블록으로 프로그래밍을 하는 로보틱스 키트 ‘키보’를 개발하고 연구했습니다. 한편, 버스 박사는 교사들을 대상으로 학습 테크놀로지에 관련된 세미나를 진행하고 있으며, 학교, 박물관, 방과 후 교실, 장난감 회사, 미디어 회사, 비영리 단체 등을 대상으로도 컨설팅을 해주고 있습니다.
