개발도상국에 대한 중국의 대외 원조 목적은 논란의 여지가 있으며, 중국의 대외 원조와 해외직접투자 사이의 관계에 관한 많은 학문적 논쟁이 있었다. 더욱이 중국은 상세한 원조 데이터를 제공하지 않기 때문에 개발 도상국에 대한 중국의 원조에 대한 연구는 설득력 있는 결론이 부족했다. 이 논문은 현재 주류 학술 연구에 사용된 Aiddata라는 데이터베이스를 기반으로, 2003 년부터 2017 년까지 패널 데이터를 사용하여 104 개 국가 및 지역을 포괄하고 동적 패널 분석을 위해 이러한 국가와 지역을 여섯 대륙으로 나눈다. 회귀 결과에 따르면, 중국의 원조는 해외 직접 투자를 크게 촉진하여 이러한 유형의 투자에 선행 효과가 있음을 나타난다. 선행 효과는 아프리카에서도 나타난다.
China's foreign aid purposes to developing countries have been controversial, and there has been much scholarly debate regarding the relationship between China's foreign aid and foreign direct investment (FDI). Furthermore, because China does not provide detailed aid data, studies on China's assistance to developing economies lacked convincing conclusions. This paper conducts a study based on the AidData database, which is currently used in the mainstream academic research, using panel data from 2003 to 2017, covering 104 countries and regions and further dividing these countries and areas into six continents for dynamic panel analysis. According to the regression results, China's assistance significantly promotes outward foreign direct investment (OFDI), indicating that it has a vanguard effect on this type of investment. The vanguard effect is significant as well in Africa.
