학생이 학교에 대해 선호관계를 가지고 있고, 학교는 정원과 법에 의해 결정된 우선순위를 가진 상황에서 학교 선택 문제가 존재한다. 수용-거절 메커니즘에 속하는 메커니즘들은 영구-실행 기간에 의해서 묘사될 수 있으며 수용-거절 메커니즘은 즉시 수락 메커니즘과 지연 수락 메커니즘을 포함한다. 수용-거절 메커니즘에서 영구-실행 기간은 모든 학교별로 동일하다(Chen and Kesten, 2017). 본 논문은 각 학교별로 잠정적으로 다른 영구-실행 기간을 부여하여 수용-거절 메커니즘을 확장한다. 이를 통해, 영구-실행 기간의 차이가 학교들의 조작가능성의 정도에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지에 대해 탐구한다. 해당 논문에서는 더 작은 영구-실행 기간을 가진 학교가 더 큰 영구-실행 기간을 가진 학교보다 어떤 조건 하에서 “더 조작 가능한가”에 대한 필요충분 조건에 대해서 연구한다.

We study school choice problems where a student has a preference relation over schools and a school has a capacity and a priority determined by state or local law. The family of application-rejection mechanisms is parameterized by permanency-execution periods and includes the immediate acceptance mechanism (IA) and the deferred acceptance mechanism (DA). In application-rejection mechanisms, permanency-execution period is the same across all schools (Chen and Kesten, 2017). We propose an extension of application-rejection mechanisms, by allowing each school to have a potentially distinct permanency-execution period. This paper attempts to show how difference in permanency-execution periods affects the degree of manipulability of schools. For this purpose, we propose a manipulability-comparison notion for schools. We identify a sufficient and necessary condition under which a school with a smaller permanency-execution period is ``more manipulable'' than a school with a larger one.
