This thesis analyzes the evolution of Chinese K-pop fandom in the Anti-Hallyu movement. By examining the online discourse and activities of Chinese K-pop fans from 2010 to 2020, the thesis finds that the Chinese K-pop fandom’s interaction with cyber-nationalism influenced the role of K-pop fandom in Anti-Hallyu Movement in China. In addition, the thesis highlights the importance of “THAAD incident” as the trigger for the identity transformation of Chinese K-pop fans and studies how it indirectly influenced Hallyu in China by shifting the Chinese K-pop fans’ perception of Korea.
