로렐 파널(지은이)

임상 심리학자. 1991년부터 EMDR을 연구해온 세계적인 학자이자 EMDR 트레이너이다. 미국 캘리포니아주 샌 라파엘에 있는 파넬 인스티튜트Parnell Institute를 설립하여 전 세계 수만 명의 EMDR 임상의를 훈련하고 양성하고 있다. 캘리포니아 칼 융 연구소에서 박사 전 인턴십을 마치고 캘리포니아 통합 연구소에서 강의했으며, 존 F. 케네디 대학원의 교수를 역임했다. 현재 알리안츠 국제 대학교, 오메가 인스티튜트, 에살렌 인스티튜트, 뉴욕 오픈 센터, 독일 카셀의 아이디 인스티튜트, 크리팔루 센터에서 EMDR을 강의하며 활발히 활동하고 있다. 파넬 박사는 좋은 치료법이란 기술을 넘어 치료자와 내담자 사이의 신뢰에 근거함을 강조하며 내담자 중심의 애착 기반 EMDR(Attachment-Focused EMDR) 개발에 크게 기여했다. 특히 아동기에 신체적, 정신적 학대로 만성적인 관계 외상 및 애착 결손을 가진 성인의 트라우마 치료에 유의미한 성과를 거두고 있으며, 광범위한 임상 경험을 바탕으로 이 책을 썼다. 지은 책으로는 《외상의 변형Transforming Trauma》, 《EMDR 치료자 가이드A Therapist’s Guide to EMDR》, 《애착 기반 EMDRAttachment-Focused EMDR》 등이 있다.
