Author Introduction
모니카 브리투 비에이라(엮은이)
2005년 케임브리지대학교에서 정치사상사로 박사 학위를 받고 2005~08년 같은 대학교에서 연구원으로 일했다. 지금은 요크대학교 정치학과 교수로 재직 중이며, 포르투갈 리스본대학교 사회과학연구소 연구교수와 케임브리지대학교 머리에드워즈 칼리지 객원교수를 겸하고 있다. 전공 분야는 정치사상사와 현대 정치론, 관심 분야는 민주주의의 역사와 이론, 국가와 정치적 권위론, 자연법, 정의론, 권리론, 헌정주의 등이고 최근에는 토머스 홉스의 정치철학과 정치적 대의의 역사 및 이론을 집중적으로 연구 중이다. 저서로는 《홉스사상에서의 대표의 요소: 홉스 국가론의 구축에 담긴 미학, 연극, 법학, 그리고 신학》(2009), 《책의 정치: 사상의 물성에 관한 연구》(2019, 공저) 등이 있다. 2016년 12월에는 포르투갈 의회에서 프레카리아트(불안정 노동자) 관련 위기가 포르투갈 민주주의에 던지는 딜레마에 관해 진술하고 포르투갈 국영방송 RTP에 출연해 브렉시트를 논평했다.
