신경과학 기반 상담(Neurocounseling)은 내담자의 건강 관련 다양한 문제의 많은 부분을 신경과학 기반 관점에서 해석 및 설명함으로써 이루어지는 상담과 신경과학 간의 통합이다.
따라서 신경과학 기반 상담을 통해 상담자는 다양한 심리 요법이 어떻게 그리고 왜 뇌를 변화시키는지 이해하고 뇌기반 관점을 활용하여 내담자의 사례를 개념화할 수 있으며, 상담 계획을 세우는 데 도움을 받을 수 있다. 또한, 바이오피드백 및 뉴로피드백의 기술적 접근으로 내담자의 괴로움과 기능 장애의 생리적 및 신경학적 요소를 평가하고 조정할 수 있다.
