사라 아메드(지은이)
2004년부터 골드스미스 런던 대학교에서 인종·문화연구 교수를 지냈다. 2016년, 학내 성추행 사건에 대한 학교 당국의 처리 미비에 항의하며 사임한 후 지금까지 독립 연구자의 길을 걷고 있다. 이주, 차이, 정체성 등의 주제를 중심으로 페미니즘 이론과 퀴어 이론, 인종 이론을 넘나들며 꾸준히 연구 활동을 펼치고 있다. 오드리 로드와 글로리아 안잘두아 등 흑인 레즈비언 페미니스트들의 작업을 ‘생명줄’ 삼아 현상학적으로 감정의 구조를 탐색함으로써 권력의 작동 방식을 분석하는 저작들을 꾸준히 발표해 오고 있다. 킬조이 선언을 비롯한 제도권에 머물지 않는 실천적 활동으로도 유명하다. 영국인 어머니와 파키스탄인 아버지를 둔 배경과 오스트레일리아에서 영국으로의 이주 경험, 유색인 여성으로서의 경험 등이 녹아든 실천적 글쓰기의 모범을 보여 주고 있기도 하다. 2019년 스웨덴 말뫼 대학에서 명예박사학위를 받았고, 2017년에는 LGBTQ 연구에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 케슬러상을 수상했다. 2011년, 이 책 『행복의 약속』으로 페미니즘 분야의 독창적 연구에 수여하는 FWSA상을 받기도 했다. 주요 저서로는 『감정의 문화정치』(2004), 『퀴어 현상학』(2006), 『고집스런 주체』(2014), 『페미니스트로 살아가기』(2017), What’s the Use?(2019), Complaint!(2021, 근간) 등이 있다.
