토마 피케티(엮은이)
파리경제대학교 및 사회과학고등연구원EHESS 교수. 런던정경대학교LSE에서 부의 재분배 연구로 박사학위를 받았고 매사추세츠공과대학교MIT에서 경제학을 가르쳤으며, 프랑스 국립과학연구센터CNRS 연구원을 지냈다. 지난 250년간 부의 집중과 재분배, 자본주의에 내재한 경제적 불평등에 관해 분석하고 글로벌 자본세를 그 대안으로 제시한 책 《21세기 자본》으로 전 세계 경제학계의 찬사를 받으며 ‘21세기의 마르크스’로 불렸다. 2013년에는 유럽 경제 연구에 탁월한 기여를 한 45세 이하 경제학자에게 수여하는 이리외 얀손 상을 받았다. 대표저서로 《21세기 자본》, 《자본과 이데올로기》, 《피케티의 新자본론》, 《불평등 경제》, 《세계불평등보고서 2018》(공저) 등이 있다.
게이브리얼 저크먼(엮은이)
캘리포니아대학교 버클리캠퍼스 경제학 조교수다. 경제적 불평등과 조세천국 문제를 집중적으로 연구한다. 파리경제대학에서 박사학위를 받았고, 프랑스경제학회에서 박사학위 최우수 논문상을 받았다. 세계불평등데이터베이스의 집행위원이다. 저서로 《세계불평등보고서 2018》 《국가의 잃어버린 부》 등이 있다.

뤼카 샹셀(엮은이)
파리정치대학 교수이자 불평등과 환경 정책을 전문으로 연구하는 경제학자다. 물리학, 사회학, 경제학, 공공정책학, 에너지과학 등을 공부했으며, 파리사회과학고등연구 원에서 경제학 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 토마 피케티와 함께 파리경제대학 세계불평등연구소World Inequality Lab 공동 소장을 맡고 있으며, 세계불평등데 이터베이스World Inequality Database 집행위원 및 유럽조세관 측소European Tax Observatory 상임고문을 역임하고 있다. 뤼카 샹셀은 토마 피케티에 이은 세계적인 스타 경제학자로, 국내에는 2018년에 출간된 『세계 불평등 보고서 2018』의 공동 저자로 처음 소개되었다. 『지속 불가능한 불평등』은 그의 첫 단독 저서로, 기존의 경제불평등을 넘어 환경불평등과 인종・젠더불평등까지 논의의 폭을 확장하며 사회불평등과 환경불평등에 얽힌 매듭을 본격적으로 풀려는 선구적인 시도가 돋보이는 책이다.
