저자소개

매리언 울프(지은이)

인지신경학자이자 아동발달학자. 읽는 뇌 분야의 세계적 연구자다. 하버드 교육대학원에서 인간발달 및 심리학 박사학위를 받고 뇌, 언어, 난독증에 대한 인지신경과학과 심리언어학 연구를 시작했다. 현재 UCLA 교육정보대학원에서 설립한 난독증, 다양한 학습자 및 사회정의 센터(Center for Dyslexia, Diverse Learners, and Social Justice) 책임자이며 채프먼 대학교 프레지던셜 펠로(Presidential Fellow)다. 터프츠 대학교에서 엘리엇-피어슨 아동발달학과 교수와 시민양성 및 공공 서비스 교육을 위한 존 디바지오 발전기금 석좌교수, 독서와 언어 연구 센터 소장을 지냈다. 전 세계의 문맹 퇴치를 위한 문해 프로젝트인 ‘큐리어스 러닝’을 공동 설립해 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있다. UCSF 의과대학 난독증 센터와 협업하는 등 난독증과 문맹 퇴치에 관한 혁신적 연구와 다양한 활동으로 국제난독증협회와 미국심리학회, 오스트레일리아학습장애협회가 주는 최고상을 비롯해 많은 상을 받았다. 저서로 《책 읽는 뇌》, 《Tales of Literacy for the 21 Century》 등이 있으며, 그 외에 160여 편의 학술 논문을 발표했다.
