새뮤얼 모인(지은이)

예일대 로스쿨 법학과 교수 겸 예일대 역사학 교수다. 버클리대에서 유럽 근대사 박사학위를 취득하고 하버드대에서 법학을 공부했다. 주로 국제법, 인권사, 전쟁법, 법률사상의 역사와 현재에 관심을 두고 있으며, 사상사에 관해서는 특히 20세기 유럽의 도덕과 정치 이론을 중심으로 주체에 관한 넓은 범위의 연구를 이어오고 있다. 유럽 사상사와 인권사 분야에서 『인권이란 무엇인가』 『기독교 인권』 『인간적인: 미국은 어떻게 평화를 버리고 전쟁을 재발명했는가』(근간)를 포함한 여러 책을 저술했으며, 이외에도 『민주주의의 과거와 미래』 『혁신: 1970년대의 인권』 『근대 유럽 사상사를 다시 생각하다』 『권리를 가질 권리』 『유토피아 이후』 『신자유주의 공화국』 『헤르만 코엔』 등을 함께 썼다. 다년간 『보스턴리뷰』 『더네이션』 『뉴리퍼블릭』 『뉴욕타임스』 『월스트리트저널』 등에 글을 써왔다.
