저자소개
필립 페팃(지은이)
미국 프린스턴대학 정치학과 록펠러 석좌교수이다. 1990년대 말부터 영미뿐만 아니라 전 세계 정치이론 및 정치사상학계의 최대의 화두로 떠오른 신로마 공화주의의 가장 정교한 이론가로 손꼽히는 학자다. 아일랜드 태생으로 영국 브래드포드대학, 호주국립대학을 거쳐 2002년부터 프린스턴대학에서 교편을 잡고 있다. 미국학술원 회원, 왕립아일랜드학술원 명예회원이며, 2010년 구겐하임 펠로십을 받았다. 대표 저서로는《공통의 의식》(1993),《신공화주의》(1996),《자유론》(2001) 등이 있다.
