저자소개
도미니크 라카프라(지은이)
1939년 미국 뉴욕시에서 태어났다. 1961년 코넬 대학교를 졸업한 후 하버드 대학에서 유럽지성사를 전공하여 석사학위(1963)와 박사학위(1970)를 취득했다. 1969년 코넬 대학교에 부임하여 2008년 현재 인문학 석좌교수 및 역사학과, 비교문학과, 로망스학과 교수를 겸직하고 있으며 대학교 부설 ‘인문학연구원Society for the Humanities’ 원장을 10년간 역임했다. 또한 코넬 대학교 소재 ‘비평과 이론학교School of Criticism and Theory’ 원장도 역임(2000～2008)했다. 그의 연구 분야는 역사학과 문화비평, 마르크시즘, 정신분석학, 포스트모더니즘을 포함한 비판이론, 홀로코스트 및 트라우마, 논픽션 텍스트 분석과 해석 문제 등이다. 주요 저서로는 <사회학자.철학자 에밀 뒤르켐Emile Durkheim: Sociologist and Philosopher>(1972), <사르트르를 위한 서문A Preface to Sartre>(1978), <재판정에 선 “마담 보바리”“Madame Bovary” on Trial>(1982), <지성사 다시 생각하기Rethinking Intellectual History: Texts, Contexts, Language>(1983), <역사와 비평History & Criticism>(1985), <역사, 정치, 그리고 소설History, Politics, and the Novel>(1987), <홀로코스트 재현하기Representing the Holocaust>(1994), <아우슈비츠 이후 역사와 기억History and Memory after Auschwitz>(1998), <전환기의 역사학History in Transit>(2004) 등 10여 권이 있다. 2006년에 학자들의 명예의 전당인 미국학술원American Academy of Arts and Sciences 회원에 선출되었다.
