Author Introduction
더글러스 다우드(엮은이)
미국의 원로 정치경제학자. 1919년생으로 1950년부터 미국의 캘리포니아 버클리 대학, 코넬 대학, 존스홉킨스 대학과 이탈리아의 볼로냐 대학 등에서 강의와 연구 활동을 했다. 아흔이 가까운 최근까지도 샌프란시스코에서 지역사회 주민들을 위한 무료 강연을 20년 넘게 계속해 왔다. 1960년대에 베트남전쟁 반대운동에 앞장섰고 1968년 미국 대통령선거 때 대안의 정당으로 결성된 평화자유당의 민권운동가 출신 대통령 후보인 엘드리지 클리버의 러닝메이트로 출마하는 등 현실참여에도 적극적이었다. 지은 책으로는 <자본주의와 그 경제학: 비판적 역사>, <깨어진 미국의 약속> 등이 있다.
