해럴드 C. 숀버그(지은이)

뉴욕에서 태어나고 자랐다. 브루클린대학교와 뉴욕대학교에서 학위를 받았다. 『뉴욕타임스』에서 30여 년을 일했으며, 1960~1980년에는 수석음악평론가로 재임했다. 1971년에는 음악 분야 최초로 퓰리처상 비평 부문을 수상하는 영예를 안았다. 『위대한 작곡가들의 삶』 등 여러 권의 저서를 남겼으며, 2003년에 87세의 일기로 사망했다.
