존 L. 잉그럼(지은이)
평생 미생물에 대한 관찰과 연구를 해온 세계적인 미생물 연구자이자 작가, 자연주의자이다. 미국 캘리포니아 대학교 데이비스 캠퍼스 미생물학과 명예교수이며, 미국 미생물학회 회장을 지냈다. 미생물 연구에 공헌한 그를 기리기 위해 영하 12도에서도 살아가는 박테리아(사이크로모나스 인그라하미이Psychromonas ingrahamii)에 그의 이름을 넣기도 했다. 《미생물학 개론Introduction to Microbiology》, 《박테리아 세포의 발달Growth of the Bacterial Cell》 등 미생물학에 대해 쓴 책은 전 세계 여러 대학교에서 교재로 활용되고 있다.
