Author Introduction
켄트 E. 콜더(지은이)
미국 유타대를 졸업하고 하버드대에서 석사 및 박사 학위를 받았다. 프린스턴대에서 20년간 교수를 역임했으며, 하버드대 행정대학원에서도 강의했다. 국제전략연구소CSIS 일본 실장을 역임했고 최초로 하버드 미·일 관계 프로그램의 사무차장을 맡기도 했다. 재일 미 대사관 특별자문위원, 한국을 포함한 동아시아 및 태평양 문제 관련 국무부 차관 특별자문위원을 역임했다. 현재는 존스홉킨스대 국제관계대학원 소장으로 재직 중이다. 45년간 아시아를 연구했고 그중 15년은 직접 살면서 이 지역 국제관계를 연구해온 대표적인 아시아통이다. 저서로 국내에 번역된 『신대륙주의The new continentalism』와 『동아시아의 형성The Making of Northeast Asia』(공저, 2010), 『태평양 동맹: 미·일관계의 부흥Pacific Alliance: U.S.-Japan Relations』(2009), 『동아시아 다자주의: 지역 안정을 위한 전망East Asian Multilateralism: Prospects for Regional Stability』(공저, 2008), 『궁지에 몰린 요새: 비교 기초 정치 및 미국의 글로벌리즘Embattled Garrisons: Comparative Base Politics and American Globalism』(2007), 『태평양 방어Pacific Defense』(1996), 『전략적 자본주의Strategic Capitalism』(1993), 『위기와 보상Crisis and Compensation』(1988), 『동아시아 위기The Eastasia Edge』(공저, 1982) 등이 있다.
