Author Introduction
마르틴 헹엘(지은이)
독일 태생인 마르틴 헹엘은 초기 유대교/기독교와 관련하여 제2성전기 및 헬레니즘 시대 연구에 지대한 족적을 남긴 역사학자와 같은 신학자다. 17세에 징용되어 제2차 세계대전에 참여했고, 전쟁이 끝난 후 1947년에 튀빙엔대학교에서 신학을 공부하기 시작했다. 1959년에는 박사학위논문을, 1967년에는 튀빙엔에서 하빌리타치온(교수자격심사)을 마쳤으며, 1968년부터는 에어랑엔에서, 1972년부터는 튀빙엔에서 교수로 재직했다. 대표적인 저작으로 박사학위논문인 “Die Zeloten”(1961)과 『유대교와 헬레니즘』(나남)이 있으며, 이 외에도 수많은 저작들과 연구 논문들을 남겼다. 감은사에서 출판된 책으로는 『십자가 처형』과 『초기 기독교의 사회경제사상』이 있다.
