티모시 라신스키(지은이)
세계적인 베스트셀러 ‘유창한 독자(The Fluent Reader)’를 비롯 50여권 이상의 저서와 200여 편의 논문을 발표한 읽기 교육전문가이자 켄트 주립대학교 교수이다. 초등학생부터 성인, 나아가 읽기에 어려움을 겪는 독자들을 위한 읽기 유창성과 단어 학습 방법을 주로 연구했다. 미국 학생들의 읽기 능력 향상을 위해 의회 주도로 설립된 미국 국립읽기위원회(National Reading Panel) 에서 저자의 연구물을 인용하였고, 국제읽기협회의 임원진으로 참여하고 있 으며, 명예의 전당 멤버가 되었다. 학생들의 영어 읽기를 돕는 영어 낭독 프 로그램 reading assistant와 FAST FORWORD의 개발사 Scientific Learning 에서 읽기 유창성 부문 책임 컨설턴트를 맡고 있다.
