존 찰스 채스틴(엮은이)

채플 힐 노스캐롤라이나대학교 사학과 교수이다. 그는 툴리오 알페린 동기의 책 『라틴아메리카 현대사』를 번역해 번역가로 호평을 받은 바 있으며, 앙헬 라마의 『교양도시』, 에르마노 비안나의 『삼바의 신비: 대중음악과 브라질의 민족 정체성』, 페데리코 감보아의 『산타: 멕시코시의 소설』도 번역하였다. 저서로는 『아메리카노: 라틴아메리카의 독립 투쟁』, 『말을 탄 영웅들: 마지막 가우초 카우디요들의 시대와 그들의 삶』, 『민족의 리듬, 아프리카적 기원: 라틴아메리카 춤의 역사』가 있고, 편저로는 『상상의 공동체를 넘어서: 19세기 라틴아메리카의 민족』(사라 카스트로-클라렌 공편), 『라틴아메리카의 독립: 자료 선집』(세러 C. 체임버스 공편)이 있다.
