Author Introduction
로제 샤르티에(지은이)
1945년 프랑스 리옹에서 태어나 생클루 고등사범학교와 소르본에서 수학했다. 1969년 역사학 교수자격 시험에 합격하고 이후 파리1대학 등 여러 곳에서 가르치다가 파리 사회과학고등연구원 교수가 되었다. 『프랑스 출판의 역사』(총 4권) 편집을 주도하고 ‘책과 출판의 역사’ 분야에서 학문적 업적을 인정받으면서, 아날학파 4세대의 대표적인 역사가로 자리매김했다. 2006년 이후 현재까지 콜레주드프랑스 교수(‘근대 유럽의 문자문화’ 전공)로 재직 중이다. 대표작으로는 『프랑스혁명의 문화적 기원』, 『문자문화와 사회』, 『저자의 손과 인쇄공의 정신』, 『벼랑 끝에서: 확신과 불안 사이의 역사학』 등이 있다.
